BUK Union Court strike out suit against Speaker, SRA & ors after Claimant’s counsel moved a motion for discontinuance.

The matter which took place at the Bayero University Students Union Government Court sitting at the
Moot Court Complex before the Chief Justice of the Students Union Government Court, Justice Rilwan Sa’idu Salihu and Justice Muhammad Wonigi.

The Claimant, Senator Gidado who was represented by his counsel, Mallam Yusuf O. Emiola Esq. announced his appearance alongside Mr Muhammad Kumo Esq. and Mr Muhammad Musa Esq.
The 1st and 2nd defendants who were the Speaker of the Students Representative Assembly,BUK and the General Assembly,SRA was represented by Mr. Mustapha Babalola Toheeb Esq. alongside Mr Darda Jibril Abu Darda Esq. and Abdullah Muhammad Toyin Esq.

Mallam Yusuf Emiola addressed the court as regards the position of the matter and informed the court that the counsels to the claimant and defendants during long break advised the parties to settle the matter out of the court via Alternative Dispute Resolution ( ADR).

The 1st and 2nd defendants counsel, Mr Mustapha Bàbalola corroborated the assertions of the Claimant’s counsel and confirmed that the matter has been settled out of the court and that the parties do not intend to go on with the case any longer.

The Claimant’s counsel moved a motion for discontinuance which received no objection from the 1st and 2nd defendants Counsel.
In his words, Mr Mustapha Babalola told the court, he doesn’t intend to object the motion neither did he intend to ask for costs in the spirit of Ramadan,the holy month.

The Court after listening to both parties struck out the case and awarded no cost to the defendants.

BUK STUDENTS UNION COURT ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF THE UNION COURT’S REGISTRY.

The Bayero University Kano Students Union Court has released the opening of the Union Court’s registry via a public notice sighted by LawPedia.

The above mentioned public notice the provides as follows:

OFFICIAL RELEASE!

NOTICE OF OPENING OF THE UNION COURT’S REGISTRY

This is to inform the general public that the registry of the students’ union court is now open for the filling of process(s) and addressing of all other matters incidental.

TAKE NOTICE that all the student legal practitioners that are yet to obtain their Roll call numbers need to start doing so as from the date of release of this circular.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that student legal practitioners are also enjoined while appearing to always dress neatly and corporately (with bib, at least, and not neck tie).

Lastly, the members of the judiciary who would be having business with the court are also generously advised to adhere strictly with the Covid-19 protocol as issued by the NCDC.
